Hello.

We’re Steve and Emily Becker, owners and operators of the Chess Club Cafe.
We opened our doors in December of 2009 by simply just turning our open sign and we let our scratch cooking and excellent service do the rest of the work for us.

Steve is our Chef and the mastermind behind our delicious food, old hometown classics and our unique specials.
He attended culinary school in late 1980’s in South Carolina and has worked in every facet of the profession from country clubs to personal chef before landing in Blanco via Austin Texas.

Emily handles the rest of the place and is there to greet you when you come in the door. A hometown girl of Blanco, she has been in the restaurant business since getting her first job at a long-since-gone BBQ joint at the age of 10.

With the help of our fantastic staff of 8, whom most of which have been with us for the better part of a decade because we couldn’t do it without them, we have maintained an excellent rating across all the review websites and have even been featured on GoodTaste with Tanji and Texas Eats.
